A Public Adjuster Can Help Process Your High-Value Insurance Claim

Posted on

Oftentimes, the insurance claims process is relatively easy. The insured contacts the insurance company makes a statement about what happened, and the claim makes its way through the processing phase. However, for some people, the opposite is true. Particularly in the case of high-value claims, the insured is often responsible for proving that said event occurred and that they are not responsible for it. In these instances, a partnership with a public claims adjuster is often beneficial.

High-Value Claims

As you might imagine, high-value claims are those instances that typically involve a total loss or that require extensive repairs. One example of this type of scenario is a residential fire in which most of the home's structure is damaged, and a significant amount of the homeowner's personal items are also lost.

These sorts of claims typically require that the insurance company pay tens of thousands of dollars, if not me. As such, in addition to proof that the event occurred, the insurance company will require that the insured provide evidence that they did not cause the fire or other event.

Burden of Proof

In an ideal world, your word would be proof enough that you are not responsible for the damage you have sustained. However, with high-cost claims, it is not. A public adjuster knows how to help you obtain the necessary reports to file along with your claim to absolve yourself of any responsibility.

Given the previous example of a home fire, this documentation would likely come in the form of a fire incident report. A public adjuster will also comb through your policy to verify your degree of coverage for said event.

Expedited Processing

Unfortunately, insurance companies are not always eager to pay high-value claims as quickly as possible, and what is even worse is that they can prolong the process legally. Often, the delay involves paperwork requests and other nuisances that can complicate the process.

A public adjuster can help in this area as well. At the start of the process, the adjuster will typically sit down with you to begin collecting information that the insurance company may ask for in the future. So, in the event the insurance company request information, you will be ready so that your claim can keep moving forward as quickly as possible.

If you have a high-value or otherwise complex insurance claim to file, contact a public adjuster to learn how their services can help you.
